Louis van Gaal is ready to make a final £34million move for Arturo Vidal - and take United's two-year spending past the £200million mark.
The Chilean has been involved in one of the sagas of the summer with the Red Devils considering Juventus' asking price too high.
But after seeing his midfield perform so poorly in the opening two games of the season, Van Gaal is ready to make a move, according to the Independent.
The club will want to put Vidal through a vigorous medical at Carrington though to ensure his knee problems are behind him.
Meanwhile, the Express reports United will use Javier Hernandez as part of the deal.
Juve are interested in the Mexican striker, who is out-of-favour at Old Trafford, and will demand he is included in any deal.
